It never fails. Every time we come back from a busy weekend in Kansas I'm in a funk for the next week. Harvey's sleep is off and it takes a couple of days to get things back in order, there's typically no food in the house so grocery shopping (which I've come to loathe) has to be done and motivation to get moving on dirty laundry and diaper washing is pretty much non-existent.
A few things that I have learned over the last year (post baby) to make things easier are:
- Always put clean sheets on the bed before you leave for your trip. There's nothing better than coming home to your nice clean bed after being out of town.
- Having something either frozen or ready to eat when you get home takes the stress off of feeding everyone and it at least gives you a night to relax and get ready for the week. Even if your only gone for a few days.
- Leaving myself a clean house to come home to. I will make sure and get the majority of things cleaned so that I don't HAVE to do anything for a couple days when I get back. That includes getting the lawn mowed and cleaned up.
- Wait to do diaper laundry very last thing before you leave. That way you've got clean diapers ready to go when you get home.
- A fresh bag of Pike Place Roast ready for consumption. (thanks to my coffee loving family members in Kansas who always help me to fall off of my "no coffee" wagon) I love coffee.
While I typically don't get everything I want done, clean sheets and a meal being ready are usually top on my list. Cleaning can always wait!!
All I have to say is.....AMEN, sister!
