Prayer

On a daily basis Brad and I are doing our best to try and teach Harvey about the world around her. She's learning the names of animals and the sounds they make. We're working on colors and shapes and trying to teach her the difference between right and wrong. But I think the thing that I am most proud of her picking up so far is her love for prayer.

Now I know she doesn't really "get it" but there have been multiple times now where she will remind me before we eat that we need to pray.  She'll stick out her soft, chubby hand for me to hold and with her sweet little voice will say "pay." Most of the time the hand holding will only last a few seconds into the prayer and we'll usually find that once Brad and I are done praying she's already stuffed her mouth full of food but I love that she recognizes that it's an important part of our day.  She'll usually ask a couple more times through the meal and there have been other times throughout the day where she'll randomly ask to pray as well. For me, that is such a good reminder that no matter what is going on in my day, whether I'm scrubbing dirty diapers in the toilet wondering where my purpose in life has gone or worrying whether or not I'm making the right choices in raising Harvey (which happens daily), I need to take those thoughts to Him where I know I will get peace.  Where I know that the the burden will be lifted and I can feel relief.

I'm so thankful that Harvey will be raised to have a relationship with Him from the very beginning. I know that that doesn't mean that life for her will be perfect but it does mean that she will never have to feel alone.
