The next few days I'm going to do my best to weed through all my pictures and share as much as I can without going overboard. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures on the first day mostly because we didn't spend any time with any of the kids. So I'm going to start with day two.
The people of El Salvador are easily the most welcoming people I've ever met. Everywhere we went they had celebrations planned for our arrival and were genuinely excited to see us. Brad was a huge hit due to his height as you will see in the coming days. Daily we were brought to tears, prayed over families and hugged and kissed each and every person we came into contact with.
I won't lie and say that it wasn't a little uncomfortable for me to be hugging and kissing so many random people in the beginning. Especially due to the fact that it was between 85 - 90 degrees on most days and none of the buildings had any sort of air conditioning. But as the days went on it became easier and less forced. I started to enjoy the fact that every time I met someone new that I got a huge hug and kiss on the cheek, no matter how sweaty my clothes were. I hope that I don't lose that little part of what I learned. I would love to be that bold person who is able to just walk up and give a stranger a nice big hug if I see they are having a bad day but I'm pretty sure that most people in the U.S. would be turned off by a 6ft tall gangly woman coming at that them, arms wide open and wearing an awkward smile. I think I'll stick to family for now.
