I just figured out that my camera has a black and white option (it only took me five years)
so I've been playing around with it. While I love being outside these last few days have been
rough as far as the heat goes. We took a walk to the mailbox and all three of us were
drenched by the time we made it home so we all took a dip in the pool.

This kid is a goof! Still loves saying cheese for the camera.

And one more in case you thought I was lying.

Mishmash

Just a little post of things going on around here:

We had a great 4th of July but I didn't get many pictures.  Harvey had a lot of fun with the fireworks this year! She loved picking out her stash and had even more fun shooting them off. Next year we need to remember to buy lots of parachutes because she was having a hard time watching other kids getting to chase down theirs. The fourth is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays!

These two goofballs had fun squirting each other with water guns
and drawing pictures on Uncle Trent's chalkboard.

Harvey was SO patient in waiting for us to get her brother down so we could shoot off the
fireworks together. Harry on the other hand was not cooperating and didn't go to sleep until
almost 10:00 so while Brad and I both tried to get him to sleep
(Brad ultimately got him down) we just enjoyed the show outside.
Our neighborhood put on quite the show!

Just a few funny things that Harvey has said lately that I want to make sure and remember:

- Her response to me after I threatened to, "swat her little tushy," was, "I don't have a little tushy, I have a big girl tushy."

- Swinging outside one afternoon she asks, "Am I swinging stinking high?"

- "Hey mom, do dogs have esophaguses?"

- "Ugggghhh, fiiiiiinne," in response to me telling her that her snack option that day was an apple. Unfortunately she probably learned that from me.

- While her and Brad were saying their nightly prayers she asked Brad to pray that when she's 12, she gets pimples. Silly kid!

- We were practicing rolling our tongues one day and I can make mine make funny shape. After she tried to do it she asked me, "Can you make a bladder with your tongue?"

- While I was brushing her hair one day she started laughing at me and said, "Oh wow, you're getting a lot of hair on your face!"

A little late night reading. I can't imagine what this does to her dreams.
Her love affair with Kansas is still going strong and has now spilled over into her books. One day she spotted a book at the library that said Kansas on the cover and she quickly scooped it up. It ended up being a funny book about all the states and listed them in the back in alphabetical order.

It sparked my memory of a song we learned in grade school and after I sang it to her she was determined to learn it. Brad videotaped her doing it and this video is one of my favorites to watch.  She misses a few states and says it's a song about the days of the week but I love how serious she is. Is it bad that I'll be sad when she loses her little lisp?

Playing Catch-up

I'm not sure where the last month went but I'm going to try and get everything back on track with this post. Here we go:

First up we had Harvey and I's dance recital and while it was probably a first and last for me (as far as performing goes) I think Harvey will do it again next year. I think she really enjoyed dancing on stage!

Radiance Ballet Video 2015 - Harvey's dance is up first and I'm in the fourth dance. We're both dancing in the finale as well, just in case you didn't want to watch the whole thing. The quality isn't the best but it was free so I can't complain.

We've had some pretty rainy weather over the past month and while big sis was taking a nap one day Harry decided to check out the rain storm.

Last round of strawberries for the summer. The kids actually got pretty excited every day to head out and see what they could find.  Harry still likes to go out and crouch down to see if he can spot any bright red strawberries waiting to be picked. Next year buddy.

The kids and I got to pet the sweetest kangaroos at a petting zoo nearby one morning.  Harvey loved seeing all the animals and Harry was more interested in going up and down the bridges and pushing the stroller in the opposite direction of where we were going. He keeps me busy for sure.

We were able to spend Father's Day in Kansas and what that typically means is lots of fun for Harvey and her cousins. I'm certain Harvey equates Kansas to what we would think of as an all inclusive vacation. She gets to eat all sorts of good food, no bedtimes, there is someone to play with 24/7 and very few rules. We love that she loves Kansas so much because we do too.

Missing Kasten and Hoyt was too busy for me. Just waiting on baby Palmer join the crew!

My three little fish. Which is quite the change from last year for our Harvey girl.
So glad she likes the water now.

He was really getting into saying "cheese!"

The Lake

We got in a quick little trip to the lake this weekend and it was so nice! Wonderful weather, good company and an excuse to eat birthday cake oreo's at 9:00 in the morning. While the adults (and Harvey) could have stayed out all day long it was probably a good thing that we only had the boat for four hours. Harry was all over the place and while we didn't have any melt downs he was pretty much ready to go by the end of it.  Here's a few pics of our day:

And just because I love a good home video I made a quick little recap of our day. (Just so you know, Harry was in his floaty 99% of the time. The little bit of video I have of him not in it was in between diaper changes and getting his cold wet clothes off an unhappy boy.)

Strawberry Picking BallerinaStrawberry Picking Ballerina

First week of strawberries! Harv's is getting pretty good at picking out the ripe ones and tossing the
others that have been nibbled on by bugs and slugs. (gross)

And Harry enjoys them just as much as big sis does. She hulls them and he takes them down.

Headed to work with Dad. She couldn't have
been more excited! Especially when she gets to watch movies
and raid the kitchen for snacks. And to round out the afternoon she
got to eat Chick-Fil-A and play with her cousins for a good hour.
I'd say she had a good day!

This guys is ALWAYS lying in waiting for his sisters door to open
so he can make a run for it.  This day she was nice enough to
let him come in and tear it apart. I love his little feet.

Caterpillar Whisperer
She's not afraid of much when it comes to bugs. She named
these two Harry Strawberry Blueberry Banana and Toy Elephant Fish.
I eventually had to tell her to let them go because I was afraid she was
going to kill them from handling them so much.

If I need five minutes to do something without the aide of Mr. Harry
I can hand him a shirt or pair of pants and he will spend a good while trying
to put it on.  It always ends up on his legs (no matter what I hand him)
but he's pretty proud of himself after he gets it on. When I hear a faint
"Yay!" from the other room I know my time is up.
