Brad and I were so thankful that we got the chance to finally meet Teresa and her family. When we started sponsoring her it really never came to mind that I would actually get to meet her in person. Now that we have we definitely have a better understanding of her and her family. Now we know how we can be praying for them. We know how important the letters that we write to them are and how much they cherish them. We know them as a family now and consider them family as well.
I was a little nervous while heading to her house due to the fact that I wasn't sure what kind of living conditions she would have. We had seen some pretty sad situations the day before and I was scared that I would have to see that they too were living in rough conditions. Thankfully that was not the case. Their house was actually a beautiful (albeit small) little bungalow type house that had tile floors, brick walls and a well where they are able to get water. They had electricity and a stove to cook on and while they don't own the house themselves they take pride in it and keep it very clean. While they have a full house with 7 of them living in a small space you can tell they are a very close and loving family.

We actually got to ride for about 10 minutes down a busy highway in the back of this truck.
I couldn't pray enough during that ride! |

| I got a full manicure while I was there. She would only let me paint two of her nails. :) |

| Their days were numbered due to a celebration coming in May and them being the main course. |

Their back yard that had multiple fruit trees in it
from which they gifted us some mangos

The (I think) sugar cane field across from their house.

Aww ... she is super cute! Such a great Blog and capturing of your trip meeting Terestia (sp?). It looks like you had a great time meeting all of them! Thank you for posting! :)
ReplyDeleteHer name is Teresa but because she's young she goes by Teresita. Meaning little Teresa. Isn't she perfect?!
