Good Weekend

With a nice weekend at home and nothing on the agenda Brad and I took care of some things around the house that had been screaming for some attention.  Our back yard had turned into a jungle of sorts with all the rain that we have had lately so it was time to pull out the mower for the first time this year. And as lame as it sounds, I was actually really excited. At times I think I could probably start a lawn mowing business on the side and be a happy girl. It's good exercise AND afterwards you have a perfectly clean shaven lawn to look at.  It's the closest thing to art that I actually appreciate.

We also got the garden planted and ready to go. I'm keeping it simple this year with 6 strawberry plants and 2 tomato plants and Bradley took the time to make a security cover for my strawberries to protect them from the rabbits and birds that ate half of them last year.  I just hope it keeps out the snakes as well.  I don't do snakes.

Needs a haircut in a bad way but I'm trying to wait as long as
I can so her bangs can catch up to the rest of her hair.

As we were finishing up work in the back yard Harvey and I heard the faint sound of the Ice cream truck in the distance.  We dashed to the front to catch him and got our first treats of the season.  Harv's got a Spongebob popsicle and I got the banana fudge bomb pop (a must try if you've never had one!).  She was covered in stickiness within minutes which in turn led to her brother relentlessly stalking her.

And lastly, while pie has nothing to do with taking care of things around the house I did want to share the recipe for the Pioneer Woman Key Lime Pie. Brad did some recipe researching on her website a few months ago and this was one that he had bookmarked for me to try and make.  I saw some Key Limes in the store on Friday and decided to go for it.  It has simple ingredients, it's easy to make and pretty darn good.  I'm not a huge fan of citrus flavored anything but this was light enough that I've had multiple pieces in last few days.  Including the one above for breakfast today.
