But poor Harvey hasn't had much of a fun summer at all. While I tried my best to get out and do some fun things here and there with her, we spent most of our time here at home. Picnic lunches on the couch were a daily occurrence and PBS Kids became her source of entertainment on the really bad days.
We did eventually get a little pool for her to play in and she has loved that. There were some mornings that we would be in that thing by 9:00 A.M.. I think we'll have to upgrade next year to make room for baby #2.
Over Labor Day weekend I tried to make up for some lost time so we took Harvey to the public pool for some fun. Twice actually. While Harvey is turning out to be one of those kids who likes to do things in her own time (maybe that's just two year olds in general) she eventually loved it. It only took her 20 minutes to get in the baby pool (which is 1 ft. deep) but she slowly became more comfortable and even started going under the waterfall and hitching rides from some other kids on their floats.
She's lucky she's got a dad who is patient with her when it comes to that kind of stuff. He'll jump in and get wet and try and coax her into the water to show her that the pool really is fun. I on the other hand would rather sit on the side of the pool sipping an Iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte with my sister, discussing life, while watching those two play. And that's just what I did.
Next on the to-do list is to figure out if I'm feeling well enough to clean my poor house that has been neglected for the last three months. We'll see...
