Well, here we are on day 6 of snowy roads and I think we are FINALLY seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. After being out of the house just a couple of times over the past few days Harvey and I decided to make an early morning donut run to the grand opening of the Dunkin Donuts. Exciting stuff here!
It took us about an hour round trip where it would normally only be about 20 minutes. We enjoyed some Christmas music while we moved along at our 5 mph turtle pace. And when I say Christmas music I mean the Chipmunks Christmas song over and over and over again.
Brad just shook his head at me while I bundled up Harvey at about 6:45 a.m. this morning.
Something I was able to check off my list over the past few days was getting my Christmas cards out early. Early for me anyway. Brad was off for two days in a row so while he kept Harvey busy, I did my best to knock them out. This was easily my favorite snow day morning. We had the fire on, snow was falling, the smell of bacon was wafting through the house and a I had nice warm cup of coffee to keep me company.
And while we tried our best to get Harvey out in the snow to get rid of some energy, the frigid temperatures and her lack of snow gear cut her time outside pretty short. The majority of the time she was falling falling face first in the snow because she couldn't quite figure out how to walk in it. Once she would hit her limit she would just keep repeating over and over that she was "frozen," so we would head back inside and strip her down of all her layers. Even if it only lasted a short time it was fun to watch her get excited.
Why doesn't this surprise me? If she takes after her mom, she'll get hypothermia in seconds! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! She lasted longer than I did out there.
